This was a great weekend getaway for the Pine needles area! Great distance from Pinehurst and lots of activities to do.

The home is in a great location, and our family especially enjoyed the pool. However, the overall cleanliness and condition left a lot to be desired. The house felt quite untidy—spare blankets and pillows were messily put into the closets, and some of the pillows smelled musty. The cabinets were broken & packed with random items, which made it feel cluttered. The home could use some updating and maintenance. Several lights were broken or missing bulbs, the blinds were damaged, and the trim, walls, and doors were noticeably scratched up and dirty. Additionally, there was only a single trash bag provided, which was inconvenient for a family stay. There was also a noticeable odor in the primary bathroom. To the host’s credit, they did offer to have it checked out, but our stay was very short and we kept the door closed and that helped contain it. Overall, while the location and pool were definite highlights, the home felt musty and not as clean or well-maintained as expected.

We had a good time but it would have been a better time if we didn’t have to start cleaning just as soon as we arrived. The cabin hadn’t been dusted in a long while. There were a lot of cobwebs. I know we were in the mountains and a certain number of spiders and bugs are to be expected but I bet if the yard wasn’t so overgrown and was sprayed before we got there, we wouldn’t have had as many as we did. This was also a big issue when wanting to stay outside next to the fire pit. Yard was overgrown and too many bugs to fight. All the outside lights, which was a nice selling point for us, was not working. We pictured cool mornings, coffee, lights at night sitting by a fire, etc. We were not able to enjoy any of this. We ended up buying a small grill to grill the meals we brought. The propane grill they had was not clean. We don’t expect perfection, we expect clean. The mattress covers need to be thrown out and new ones put on. Ugh! Wish I had seen this at beginning of trip. Lesson learned
